Great performance for Team LOWA this weekend..
Post Match Report from Coach Leon;
Gemma Wells up first:
Lifted really well in the warm up and carried that out on to the platform. 50kg opener and followed it up with 54, very unlucky not to get 57 with a really good effort. Clean and Jerk was solid too. Comfy 60kg opener and then 64kg. Easy clean on the 67 but failed the Jerk. She came away with a comp PB and will be doing some great things in the next few months.
Finished with a silver medal from this group. Again in the warmup looked really sharp. Had a long warmup as he was middle of the pack. 80kg opener was very solid. He then missed 85kg twice. Clean and Jerk was really solid. Opened with a really solid 100kg C+J and then almost blacked out on his second attempt at 105 after a hard clean. Didn't attempt the Jerk. Then took it again and smoked it. Could of hit 110 if he would of not been so slack on his first 105 attempt.
Came away with a gold medal in her group. Opened with 48kg. Missed the first attempt but showed great mental toughness to go back out and hit on the second attempt. Then was very unlucky not to stick the 50kg on the 3rd attempt. Clean and jerk. Opened at 60kg with a solid clean and Jerk. Second attempt at 62kg resulted in a majority decision from the referees 2 to 1 red flags. She then went out again and got the 3rd attempt with a 2 to 1 majority decision this time in her favour.
Exciting weekend of lifting coming up for LOWA. We have a team competing at Crystal Palace with the aim of qualifying for this years Regional Championships. We already have 6 team members that have secured their spot already...
This weekend we have Gemma Wells, Sarah Hilton & Ruben Monteiro all trying to hit those qualifying standards, under Coach Leon Kew. We wish them every success. Anyone able to go a support them, I know it will be appreciated and make a huge difference to their performances.
Squad sessions are due to start soon so watch out for updates soon.
