This week is all about getting ready for the LOWA comp at the weekend!
Today we work up to our start weights for both lifts, looking to be sharp at those numbers so we're confident stepping onto the platform. Your coach will help you with your warm up, and deciding what to open on if you haven't yet. You want to work up to something you're confident of hitting, but that gives you a good chance of finishing on a high number. Then we finish up with some Front Squats working on our speed.
Muscular Cleans first, have a play here and work on getting sharp in the turnover and finding that timing from the hip. Then Power Clean and Power Jerk, catching high with plenty of energy in the Pull, finishing with a sharp Jerk - really stretch up into the weight and then catch. Then we work our power and movement with some Bounding and Vert Jumps before mobility for the adductors.
Today we work up to our last warm-up weight for both lifts, another chance to make sure you're happy with your strategy for getting to your start weight, and an opportunity to practise that process so it's familiar for Saturday. Then we finish up with some Back Squats.
We mobilise that deep squat position first with Press Behind Neck in Squat. Then Power Snatch working on our sharpness and power, catching high and balancing the weight early. Then Snap Unders to get sharp dropping to the weight, before some mobility for the lower body.
Today is a chance to have a play, work on things that will keep you moving well, mobilised and sharp for Saturday - if you're not competing today can be a test day for your lifts..
Competition day! Weigh in will be at 9am, then lifters will be grouped according to their start weights, and the first group will lift off at 11am. We look forward to another really good day to test out our lifts and have some fun.
